…well known dutch producer, who has his homebase on rush hour and nod navigators , presents his debut album “voyage direct”, out on rush hour.
most of you will know him from the “beat dimensions” series or “08bar” - both out on rush hour too. the latter already showed his passion for fine house beats,
and this album is full of great and deep tunes; quite melodic with a touch of the recent re-edit disco flair. i´d say it´s perfect for people, who like house, but haven´t really heard
a lot before and / or like the dutch stuff in general. for my taste, the tunes are perfect for the walkman and such…for the floor i hope there´ll be some reworks, which could be interesting, considering the melodic material on “voyage direct”.

alias inverse cinematics, the beat wunderkind from motorcity stuttgart, freshens up my crate with his new 12inch out on 20:20 vision!
the ruff house, detroit influenced releases under his alter ego “Motor City Drum Ensemble” are a bench mark in my recent playlists.
almost every release was and is a bomb. if you don´t know any of this…check for his “raw cuts” EPs on MCDE or the compost black label releases.
tips: get slapped up and raw cuts # 1 & 3! anyways, the new 12inch “lonely one” features 3 tracks, my favorite is the dirty, ruffly chopped and dark “frontin”.
minilogue
the swedish minimal producers, who recently played a live set in vienna at “resolut” and released their highly acclaimed debut “animals” on cocoon, dropped the
vinyl only 10inch “doiicie”, containing 2 versions of the same song, a minimal one and a clubbier, deeper version. very basic, and minilogue typically spun shit.

is back with the highly recommended and brillant “young heartache” EP out on One Handed Music. all 4 songs are killin it! more song like arrangements, plus
the typical heavy drum programming, wonderful melodies and some fine vocal samples. tips: “young heartache” and the discoy “time for us all to love”.

definitly worth a try for all beatheads and those who wanna become .. exile with his brandnew instrumental album “radio”, letting y´all know, that the mpc still is
the mother of all beat creation machines. favorites: the opener “frequency modulation”, “watch out!” and “mega mix”.
not new at all..
but still recommended for detroit tech afficionados is this last joint right here:
carl craig & moritz von oswald - recomposed: music by maurice ravel & modest mussorgsky
a brillant, almost continous detroit techno treatment of classic material from 2 great composers.
if you´re into the detroit shit, this is the perfect “classic” record for dark and cold sundays.

“Jay Stay Paid!” about to drop this june…
By now most everyone is familiar with the story of musical legend J Dilla. The quiet, prolific producer collaborated with everyone from Eryka Badu to Common to Janet Jackson to Prince. Dilla was just beginning to capitalize on his cult status when he sadly passed at age 32 due to Lupus-related complications. Jay Stay Paid is a 25 track collection of unreleased Dilla beats mixed and arranged by Pete Rock. While mostly instrumental, “J$P” also offers a few guests vocals from artists that Dilla worked with or admired including Black Thought of The Roots, MF DOOM, and M.O.P.
Curtailing any notion of jumping on some sort of Dilla bangwagon, Jay Stay Paid was executive produced by Dilla’s mother Maureen Yancey (aka Ma Dukes) along with the musical supervision of Dilla’s only real musical idol, Pete Rock. “It wasn’t rushed and it wasn’t haphazard,” explains Ms Yancey. “This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. Its mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.”
The format of the album plays like a radio show with Pete Rock as the program director. With regards to Pete’s involvement, Ms. Yancey gets very excited, “Dilla wanted to pattern himself behind Pete. His dream was to become as close as possible to what Pete stood for. Pete meant everything to him. Dilla would have just been flabbergasted! ” Pete’s sentiments were the same toward Dilla, “Dude was amazing. He just kinda came outta nowhere and the more you heard his beats the better they got. He may not be here with us, but it’s all good we’re going to keep his music alive and well.”
In the late 80s, Dilla founded the seminal rap group Slum Village and put Detroit hip-hop on the map, while the 90’s saw him playing a major role in the production team The Ummah with Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad doing extensive work on Tribe Called Quest’s last two albums.
Jay Stay Paid will be released on June 2nd on Nature Sounds.

kurz vor der bettruhe hat mir ein gehypter berliner dj kollege noch diesen link hier gezwitschert…
die grossartige, in LA beheimatete gallerie 1988 - generell immer einen besuch wert
(zumindest im netz, da rentiert sich´s auch…ich wär sofort pleite bei einem besuch in LA) -
hat in diesem blog gesammelte werke von einigen bekannten und (mir) auch unbekannten pinselartisten hinterlassen.
allesamt zum thema beastie boys, am meisten karikiert unter anderem: “intergalactic, sabotage & brass monkey”.

in letzter zeit gab´s ja des öfteren news auf technischer front in sachen intuitivem controlling…
da wären zb yamaha´s tenori on und jazzmutant´s touchsensitive midi controller lemur & dexter.
hier nochmal mit bildchen, weil sie ja so schön sind:

dann gab´s da noch 2007 das grossartige projekt “reactable”,
entworfen von 4 quasi “digitalen geigenbauern” im audiovisuellen institut der universitat pompeo fabra in barelona:
ein touch sensitiver tisch, an dem mehrere controller (in menschenform) mit verschiedenen objekten diverse komponenten eines klassisch modularen synthis verändern und festlegen. das ganze sieht / “hört” dann ungefähr so aus:
well…i want one of those too…sowas sollte eigentlich jeder zuhause stehen haben.
neuer hingegen ist “tiction” - erfunden vom us musiker & informatiker hans kuder:
ein flexibler midi sequencer, der auf “nodes“, also knotenpunkten basiert.
wie das ganze funktioniert und klingt, plus einige andere interessante facts (plus download des tools!!) gibt´s bei obigem link, bei meiner quelle auf de:bug und hier - ein demo mit touch osc:
und ich werd mir jetzt mal ne session mit dem guten teil geben!!

this is for those, who haven´t heard of it yet and those who have, but not actually did hear any shows live on air.
well, the twintowas´ cousin, fashion & music afficionado KDSN [kido soon], vienna based event manager, dj & superfly radiovoice Thomas De Martin [bujaka] & myself BNCKD are hosting a weekly radio outfit called “313RADiO”,
on vienna´s new private radio Superfly.fm 98,3 - mondays from 22.00 til 0.00!
the selections are pretty eclectic and range from low club style, glitchy hiphop tunes to broken and housy stuff over to detroit and even minimal. after 30 shows, we´ve catched quite a few listeners so far, and of course are always happy and looking forward to welcome new fans & critics
so feel free to tune in (if you´re in vienna) or check out their stream (128k with user account)!
