Def Ill - Roter Faden EP

2006 released Def Ill sein erstes Solo Album “Der Rote Faden”, dass schon nach ca. 2 Wochen hören ein Klassiker war. Doch seitdem ist es releasetechnisch recht still um ihn geworden.. Ein paar Videos produziert, einige Auftritte, Features, Remixes und vielleicht noch ein paar exclusive Tracks.. Das ist zwar auch etwas, aber wer ihn kennt weiß.. da ginge noch um einiges mehr. Aber endlich bricht er wieder das Schweigen und liefert uns das lang versprochene Vinyl zum Roten Faden.. Doch halt… Denn mit den original roter Faden Tracks ist nur die A-Seite der 12” befüllt. Ein Best of sozusagen. Die B Seite kommt mit brandneuen Tracks wie z.B. Süchtig (zu dem schon vor ein paar Wochen ein Video released wurde).

one of the labels, that extensively influenced me, turned 20. Warp Records, founded in 1989 by Steve Beckett & Rob Mitchell in Sheffield, is one of the biggest, finest and trendsetting indie labels ever since.

With LFO they had their first chart entries in the early nineties;  with Nightmares on Wax´ “Smokers Delight” in 1995, one of the first ultimate achievements in downbeat; besides the influental greatness of artists like Aphex Twin, Autechre or Squarepusher, they released music of Luke Vilbert, Two Lone Swordsman, Prefuse 73, Plaid and loads of others…
lately they´ve been breaking down the hiphop frontiers (besides prefuse and anti pop consortium) with Flying Lotus.

20 years of extraordinary and complex music is worthy to release a best of album: the warp guys are releasing Warp20 on the 25th of Sept: 10 best of tracks selected by the warp originators and 10 online chosen tracks by the warp community. sounds lovely! i´ll grab something to eat and listen to LFO by LFO, Hard Normal Daddy and some richard d. james muzik!

Big news from Kaisermühlen´s finest Brenk! Some time ago we had his first collaboration with westcoast legend MC Eiht online, and it turns out that the Kaisermühlen-Compton connection just kept growing after that. Apparently, Brenk handles the bulk of the production on Eiht’s coming album “The Blacclist“, which is supposed to materialize towards the end of the year via Blue Stamp Music (named after a Brenk beat) and Year Round Records. If the latter isn’t clue enough for you, this of course means DJ Premier is involved too - in fact he’s the only other producer on the record. Damn! Brenkie boy all the best from the supercity crew!
