I offer to you the first-ever piano mixtape “PIANIST ENVY”. My declaration of defiance to the rappers and beatmakers who, unbeknownst to them, leave space for my musical imagination.
You know those rap beats and electro songs – the ones with almost nothing in them? Tipsy, Grindin’, A Millie, Rollin’ and Scratchin’, Single Ladies? Well, I go all Liberace on these beats with my piano and my orchestra. Claude Von Stroke, 50 Cent, Kelly Clarkson, Rocky Balboa and Gonzo himself all make cameos.

schon seit längerem schwirren videos und songs von einem milchgesicht names asher roth im netz herum, die mich ehrlich gesagt anfangs eher abgeschreckt, dann aber nach dem ich das mixtape the greenhouse effect gehört habe, echt überzeugt haben. ich bin mittlerweile davon überzeugt, dass asher roth aus philly einer der nächsten grossen sein wird. natürlich drängen sich sofort eminem vergleiche auf, die er selbst auch garnicht bestreitet. so lassen die doppelreim-attacken (zb the sun god free) und die stimme schon stark an shade erinnern. lyrisch und raptechnisch ist das seit laaaaangem aber echt das beste, was ich gehört habe und soll ein gegenbeispiel zu meinen postings hier sein.
noch dazu ist sein mixtape ein so gutes beispiel dafür, wie man als künstler selbst und ganz ohne major im hintergrund zu fame kommen und seinen marktwert steigern kann.

A year in the making. No lie, I was originally going to drop this mixtape in September of 2007. It’s been an on and off process since then, but it is finally here. Featuring blends, remixes, exclusive freestyles from some good friends of mine, rarities, live performances and much more. I put mad effort into this project, so I would really appreciate you to check it out, it’s a free download. Included is a bonus wallpaper designed by 4Five, who also did the cover. I will be printing up some hard copies with special edition artwork and a few other goodies soon, so be on the lookout for that (leave a comment if you might be interested in purchasing). Also, huge props to OJ Loopz for splitting this up for me, I appreciate it my dude. I’m done talking, please let everyone know about this project, you wont be disappointed!
